Tussah laceweight is a vegan-friendly luxury yarn available in kettledyed semisolids and handpainted colorways. It is soft, drapey, and has that rich glow unique to silk. It’s perfect for lace shawls, showstopping fine-gauge garments, or even to hold alongside another yarn to lend a bit of shine to your work.
Tussah silk (also known as wild silk or “peace silk”)is made from cocoons built by wild silkworms. These cocoons are not collected until after the silkworms have abandoned them, so they’re not harmed. For that reason, Tussah is suitable for vegan knitters who object to the processes used in cultivated silks (involving killing captive-bred silkworms within the cocoons by some pretty unpleasant methods).
